Islamabad – April 18: Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Kabul tomorrow. The visit aims to discuss counterterrorism and key regional security concerns with Afghan leadership.

Speaking during the weekly press briefing, Khan called the visit a significant diplomatic development. “Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Afghanistan is a very important step forward. He said that Ishaq Dar will visit Kabul and We prioritize our relations with Afghanistan.

The spokesperson also highlighted recent diplomatic engagements with Bangladesh. “Secretary-level talks with Bangladesh took place in a cordial environment. Some longstanding matters were also discussed,” he noted.

On regional dynamics, Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s close ties with China, describing it as a “longstanding friend.” He also commented on the recent statement by India’s External Affairs Minister. “We have taken notice of the Indian minister’s accusations. He frequently makes statements against Pakistan,” Khan added.

Shafqat Ali Khan also addressed internal investigations into the Jaffer Express tragedy, confirming the inquiry is ongoing. “Terrorists involved were in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan,” he stated.

Regarding Pakistani-American Asif Merchant, the spokesperson said the United States had not shared relevant information with Islamabad. “The U.S. has not provided details about Asif Merchant,” Khan confirmed.
